My Experience with TBS Extra Virgins Mineral Compact Foundation

Packaging– To be honest, this is my first ever pan cake foundation and like all other pan cake foundations this too comes in a very cute and handy compact casing resembling much like the TBS body butters outer packaging. But instead, they come in a not-exactly black, but a lack-lustre kind of black finish with all the details on the case itself! One thing I do like is that it is quite compact, has a very practical mirror and a separate shaft to place the integrated brush! I hate those products which have the cream as well as the applicator in the same section!

Texture and Finish– My first thought upon looking at and swatching the foundation was that Oh man, I loouuvvee it! It was super creamy, blended like a dream and did not feel heavy on the skin, plus was light coverage! What more could I ask for! And no, not all my first impressions were false—but the coverage part—uhmm, let us say I did not like it much! It was too sheer, even for my liking. I have a little problematic skin and I tend to get red around the cheeks and have loads of acne scars, and this baby failed to do anything good for my skin! But yes, it has a very natural finish, almost as you have not used anything and it does tend to get a little oily after three hours top! And that happened even after I had powdered it! I mean for 1400 bucks, I was expecting so much more!

Shade and coverage– As I said, the shade selection in TBS foundations is insane! And I am in the shade 208 golden vanilla! This is not exactly my shade as it has very warm yellow undertones whereas my skin has more of pink undertones in winters, but yea, I can make use of it! The product is too creamy for my taste, as I have oily skin and it makes my skin look and feel oily just after a few hours! The foundation cannot be termed as the most pigmented of the lot—it is a mineral foundation after all—and is quite sheer! But the sad part is that you cannot build it up, as it starts looking caked up and shizz! It gives an extremely sheer finish and does nothing for your spots, blemishes, scars or even dark spots or under eyes! *goes in the corner and cries*

Staying Power– ok, I’ll not lie to you! One thing which truly amazed me was the wear time of this little baby! I mean I applied it at about 10 in the morning, went out to an adventure park, sweated out like crazy (and this did get a little blotchy, and yes, I had to touch up with a setting powder) but this foundation, though it amde me look shiny, did not disappear! It stays on like forever!

Applicator–  by far the worst brush I have ever used—and I don’t think that all the brushes are so bad quality as I have read some pretty amazing reviews about the integrated brush which comes along with this foundation, but yes, mine was a total failure! It shreds like crazy. I mean just look at the foundation pan, it has hair all over—and this was because I tried to make the brush work but, to my disappointment—bleh! I would rather prefer to use my sanitized fingers to use this product or go with a makeup sponge, but definitely not this brush. Not only does this shred (even on the face while application), it gives a super streaky finish which is so pathetic I cannot even tell.

Now, you might be thinking that if I dislike this so much then what is the use of this review? Take a second and read below!

I DO NOT LIKE IT MUCH AS A FOUNDATION, BUT I USE IT AS MY HG DAILY-WEAR, LIGHT-WEIGHT CONCEALER! And trust me guys, I have used nothing better than this! I typically use this with my concealer brush and pat it under my eyes, on the bridge of my nose, my cupids bow, my forehead and just where my contour is supposed to end, and it gives a pretty highlighted kind of glow to my face (as it is meant for dry skin, it gets oily, remember?)! Use it for your under eyes and bags and even conceal your blemishes or minor spots with this. Slather on a foundation, and powder the areas up! And voila, the most perfect daily wear concealed look is what you get! Bam!

-attractive packaging

-very practical mirror included

-separate compartments for applicator and the product

-ingredients list provided

-does not clog pores

-good for dry skinned beauties

-can be doubled up as a daily wear concealer

-super expensive for the quality

-pathetically designed applicator

-makes the skin oily

-super sheer finish

-cannot cover up any imperfections if used on its own

-gets blotchy after a few hours of application

-the brush provided along, shreds like crazy

Final verdict—I do not have much to say about this, but oily skinned beauties, give it a pass! Whereas dry skinned (no, not even normal or combination skins) beauties can make use of it if they have almost perfected skin naturally!
