New Maybelline Vivid Matte Lipsticks India Swatches and First Impressions

Hello my angels!

How is everyone doing? First of all, to all those of you who have taken time out of their precious schedules to come and read my blog, just remember that I love you, and you are beautiful! 🙂

So, quick question! How many of you on this thread, live for lipsticks? Like literally living for that one tube of your favourite lipstick? Ok, so it is just me exaggerating but you sure do love your lipsticks, don’t you? And I am pretty sure we all stand united in our love for lipsticks. And in most cases, as and when I go out shopping, there is not one instance where in I return with my arms all red and stained (with all the swatches, of  course). Yes, I do like to swatch all lipsticks even if I can not afford to buy them at that very instant. Yes, that’s “THE CURVY PRINCESS” for you!
So one one such quick trip to the lifestyle store, my eyes met with these bright vivid lipsticks from maybelline and I knew I had to see what was Maybelline upto now. The Indian market has just launched 4 vivid bright shades from the original vivid range and we have to make peace with it. So without further hassle, lets get into the prices, shades, swatches and my first impressions of the same!

INR 475 for 3.9 grams

Firstly, apologies for not being able to show you the packaging of these babies as the SA at the lifestyle counters was a bit too adamant about “no clicking pictures in the showroom”, so I would not manage to sneak a picture of the lipsticks itself. But the lipsticks are very basic–black tubes with frosty red translucent lids. One thing which i fail to understand is that they launched just 4 shades and even then they could not colour code the lipstick lids, they are all red, with only the bottom of the lipsticks having colour coded stickers with their names on it. Plus, all four of these lipsticks swatch quite glossy but then settle into a demi matte, just the way the Maybelline Pink Alert Lipstick range.
So now to the shades and their swatches.

1. Neon Pink

The shade Vivid 2 Neon Pink is a really bright in your face bright blue-based pink which gravitates towards a full blown neon pink. This shade is definitely not for the faint hearted but if you can manage to pull this shade off, you are going to be the head turner of the party–take it from me! Yes, this shade will not suit olive-dark skinned beauties as it has very bright blue undertones which might clash with your warm yellow undertones. But on fair to medium skin tones, this shade will be the bomb.

2. Scarlet Red

Shade Vivid 1 Scarlet Red is not your basic go-to neutral red. As the name suggests, it is a bright orange based red, almost like a tomato red lipstick and is much more glossier than the Neon Pink shade. This shade is the most wearable shade of the range and will suit a wide spectrum of skin tones. And like the rest three shades this too settles into a demi matte finish and swatches really well.

3. Rosy Orange

Now the shade Vivid 4 Rosy orange is not at all a rosy orange, it is a straight, out and out bright flat orange shade with neutral undertones. though it is a basic orange shade it is a tad bit too bright (for my liking, some of you might like wearing it though). Again this one is a tad more glossier in texture than neon pink and it swatches really well. Though the brightness of all the four shades is justified as they are launched under the Vivid Brights range but i just don’t see myself wearing such a bright orange, but being a neutral yet bright orange, this shade is bound to look striking upon a lot of indian skin tones for sure.

4. Violet Pink

Lastly, the shade Vivid 3 Violet Pink is a bright purple based cool pink and is much more wearable than the neon pink shade. So for all those of you who love to sport bright pink pouts but do not have a heart of lava, go get this shade. I see this pretty bright cool toned pink working out for all skin tones–from fair, medium and olive, brown skins–all of them. The best part is that its cool purple undertones wouldn’t clash against your warm undertones, rather enhance them and would look all the more pretty on the lips. Plus, I am sure this lipstick is bound to make your teeth look whiter. 🙂

All of these shades swatch pretty well, and this is just one swipe so you can see how pigmented these are. Maybelline has launched some pretty, though not unique shades which I see working for the Indian skin tones pretty perfectly. But the price point has got me thinking about this range of lipsticks. And more than the price, it is my liking for neutrals and subtle nudes that i could not gather heart to buy any of the above shades. But if anyone of you wants to see any particular shade reviews, do let me know in the comments section below, and I would love to test these babies out for you! 🙂

Till then, Love from the CURVY princess, ISHY!

I generally do not wear such bold shades hence my lack of interest in these! But had i been habitual, I would have definitely got the rosy orange!
Anyhow, thankyou so much for taking out the time to visit my blog and grace it with your comments! 🙂
